Setting Up MFA

What is MFA?

MFA, or multi-factor authentication is a more secure method of managing account access, requiring a login, password, and random character string to allow users access to your account. Once you’ve enabled MFA, a 6-character alphanumeric code will be emailed to your email address on file.  You’ll be prompted to input this code after you’ve put in the correct login and password to access your account. This extra step ensures that the person logging into your Coign account also has access to the email account associated with your Coign account.

How do I turn on and/or set up MFA?

From the Dashboard, tap “Manage Account”.

On the next screen scroll down and tap on MFA under the App Settings section.  If you have biometrics already enabled, you’ll be asked to verify your fingerprint or faceID.

On the MFA screen you’ll be asked to enter the phone number associated with your account.  Enter it in the phone number field and tap “Confirm” at the bottom of the screen.

You’ll then receive an SMS with a 6-digit alphanumeric code.  Enter the 6-character code in the one-time code field and tap “Confirm” at the bottom of the screen.

Next, you’ll see your recovery code.  Please write this down as it will be required to log into your account should you ever lose your mobile device.  Once you’ve done so, click the check box to confirm that you’ve recorded the recovery code, and tap “Finish” at the bottom of the screen.

You’re all set. MFA is now enabled on your account. Should you ever need to reset your recovery code or change the phone number associated with your account you can do that from the MFA screen by tapping on the “Phone number” or “Recovery code” button and then “continue” at the bottom of the screen and following the same steps as those above.

To turn off MFA simply go to the MFA screen and toggle the switch at the top right of the screen from right to left.
